MARGARET GAFFNEY

I've been writing for as long as I've been able to hold a pencil. Stories seem to form in my head without any conscious effort on my part, and then I am seized with the need to share them with the world...or at least with the pages of the notebook I have laying nearby.

Growing up in a family of nine children, it was sometimes difficult to make my voice heard. Now, I can express myself with the written word. Whether its through my novels, poems I jot down on a moment's notice, or the grueling research assignments given in my academic career, I believe writing to be a powerful medium that can move people to action or make them stop and think about their lives and who they are.

For this reason, I write. I write because I want to excite people, to make them think. I write because I need to, and I write because I love it. 

​

It is my hope that my enthusiasm for life, love, and good stories is evident in my writing, especially in my first book, Of Slaves and Exiles, the first volume of the All the Queen's Men trilogy.

When I am not writing, I am busy working on my graduate degree in my home state of Ohio, reading every good book I can get my hands on, and keeping track of my big family.
